Residence Halls

Guest/Visitation Policy

Phase 1:

  • No off-campus visitors will be allowed within the residence halls (except during the move-in process).
  • Access to a residence hall is restricted to students assigned a room in that hall. Visiting other residence halls is not permitted.
  • Residents of the same hall may visit each other’s rooms. No more than double the occupancy may be in a given room or unit at the same time, except for Farwell, where no more than 13 individuals may be in a cluster common space at the same time.
  • All guests should practice social distancing. Follow the current college face coverings guidance.
  • No overnight guests are permitted.
  • Orientation and residence hall programs will be restricted to small groups based on floor communities. Any large events in the residence halls will be held using virtual platforms. 

Phase 2:

  • No off-campus visitors within the residence halls.
  • Students have access to other residence halls on campus during regular card-access hours.
  • Students may have visitors in their rooms from other residence halls. No more than double the occupancy may be in a given room or unit at the same time, except for Farwell, where no more than 13 individuals may be in a cluster common space at the same time.
  • All guests should practice social distancing. Follow the current college face coverings guidance.
  • No overnight guests are permitted.
  • Residence hall programs will be restricted to small groups based on floor communities.

Phase 3:

  • Students are permitted to have overnight guests. Overnight guests must follow the guest/intervisitation policy and are limited to current Luther students.
  • Students may have visitors in their rooms from off-campus. No more than double the occupancy plus two may be in a given room or unit at the same time, except for Farwell, where no more than 13 individuals may be in a cluster common space at the same time.
  • All guests should practice social distancing. Follow the current college face coverings guidance.

Phase 4:

  • Return to original guest/intervisitation policy.
  • All guests should practice social distancing. Follow the current college face coverings guidance.
