Symphony Orchestra Concert and Reception

Symphony Orchestra Concerts and Receptions

Alumni, parents, and friends are invited to spend an evening with the Luther College Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Daniel Baldwin. This concert is part of the Symphony Orchestra's 2018 Midwest Tour. The program will include the following selections: Overture to I Vespri Siciliani by Giuseppe Verdi, Ennanga, for Harp, Piano, and Strings by William Grant Still, and Symphony No. 5 in E Minor, Op. 64 by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

The Luther College Symphony Orchestra, Luther’s largest and oldest orchestral ensemble, maintains an active rehearsal and performance schedule during the academic year, from early September to late May. Symphony Orchestra tours annually in the United States and every four years maintains a three-week residency in Vienna, Austria, with a final performance at the Wiener Konzerthaus. Domestic tours have included trips through the Pacific Northwest, the Great Plains States, the Southeast, and the Upper Midwest. Since 1997, the Luther Symphony Orchestra has completed sixteen major American tours.

There is no charge to attend these concerts, a free-will donation will be taken at the door. After the concert, please join Dr. Daniel Baldwin and the Symphony Orchestra students for a reception.
