You are invited to U.S. Bank Stadium to watch the Norse Baseball Team in their first two games of the season versus Carleton College on Wednesday night, March 1, 2017. The double-header begins at 9:45 p.m. We will have a pregame gathering for alumni, parents and Norse fans at the Crooked Pint Ale House a few blocks from the stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m. No charge for the pre-game gathering, guests can simply order off the menu if they wish to eat or drink. RSVP requested. We will have a small section reserved for our group. Game tickets at U.S. Bank Stadium will cost $5 at the door.
The 2017 campaign will be Head Coach Bryan Nikkel's third year as skipper of the Norse program. Last season, he led the Norse to a record of 34-14, the Iowa Conference Tournament championship and a trip to the NCAA III National Baseball Tournament Central Regional. Coach Nikkel was recently named Four-Year College Coach of the Year by the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association. The Norse set single season school records for wins (34), hits (485), and doubles (116), and four Norse were named all-conference including Iowa Conference Pitcher of the Year junior Nate Beckman. With 28 returning lettermen, The Norse are looking forward to another successful season in 2017... and we want you to be a part of it!
Luther will dedicate new softball and baseball stadiums on Saturday, April 29th. Associate Director of Athletics, Alex Smith '03, will be at The Crooked Pint to show some photos of the completed projects and answer questions about the new facilities. It is interesting to note, that the "new" seats in the Luther stadiums were actually taken from the old Metrodome and re-purposed!
Admissions Counselor Alec Knop '15, and Assistant Director of Admissions, Greg Eide '87 will also be your hosts.
