Finals are over! Hahahahaha! YES!
I just took my last final exam this morning, and I’m so glad to be done! For two whole weeks! It will be great to see my friends and celebrate Christmas with my family!
Speaking of Christmas, Luther has definitely been in the holiday spirit these past few weeks! On my dorm floor, my friends decorated their doors with snowmen, stockings, and wreaths, and someone set up her iPod to play Christmas music in the bathroom. Last Friday evening, I had friends over to decorate gingerbread cookies in my room, and last night, we did a Secret Santa event, which was a ton of fun! I had a great time picking out a gift for my recipient in beautiful downtown Decorah, and it gave me a fabulous excuse to explore the wonderful shops on Water Street! I also made and sent Christmas cards to all the girls on my floor, and received many in return.
In addition to my floor’s activities, there have been tons of Christmas activities around campus! The ballroom dance team had a holiday jam, and we all danced in our Christmas sweaters and holiday socks.
There was also a Christmas event for PALS, and my partner and I had so much fun decorating cookies, drinking hot cocoa, coloring, and watching a movie with our six-year-old little! You can see pictures from the event by clicking here.
Obviously, Christmas at Luther was another fantastic celebration. The choirs and symphony did an amazing job, and after the performance was over, I couldn’t help but wish the music could go on! I’m already looking forward to next year’s Christmas at Luther!
The library also spread Christmas cheer by providing snacks every night during finals week! Gingerbread men, hot cocoa, and warm apple cider were some of my favorite snacks served. I got to make a Frozen-themed poster and a bulletin board advertising the event for my job at the library, which was so much fun! And when my work was over, my boss gave me a gingerbread house kit for Christmas! I felt like the luckiest employee on campus.
Even during my final exams, the Christmas celebration continued! During my developmental psychology test this morning, a miniature Santa automaton waved at the students from the front of the classroom for two hours. My stress level definitely went down. It’s hard to be serious while looking at a dancing Santa.
And now that finals are over, I am so excited to celebrate Christmas with my family! I leave on the shuttle bus tomorrow morning, and I can’t wait to be home. But before I can do that, I have a lot to pack, so I’d better get to it!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, everyone!
