Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
I hope you are all having a wonderful holiday, full of lots of pie and other wonderful things! Since today is all about giving thanks, today I am going to write about what I am thankful for this week! So, without further ado, here are five things I’m giving thanks for:
1) I’m thankful that Luther is getting ready for Christmas!
As December draws nearer, the campus is definitely getting into the holiday spirit! My friends are busy attending practices for Christmas at Luther, the massive music extravaganza, and I have gotten my ticket and am looking forward to watching the legendary performance for the first time ever. One of my favorite aspects of being a first-year is getting to experience all of Luther’s fantastic traditions for the very first time.
In addition, the campus has been decorated beautifully for the season. Several big evergreen trees have been covered in twinkly lights; an evergreen garland has been draped across the portico of the Center for Faith and Life; and a Christmas tree stands in one of the CFL’s windows.
My roommate and I also strung lights around our dorm room to celebrate!
2) I’m thankful that the library has excellent books!
Alright, so obviously the library is full of books. But it took me awhile to find the section of the library that houses popular teen books, since much of the library is hefty academic tomes that, while useful, are not necessarily my go-to leisure reading. So I was pretty excited when a friend showed me the section of popular books on the lower level of Preus Library. I checked out my first book on Tuesday: Paper Towns by John Green. I’m so glad I discovered this treasure trove of novels!
3) I’m thankful that Luther’s Grab-and-Go ensured I ate dinner Tuesday night!
I usually don’t use the Luther Grab-and-Go, because I like to sit down in the Caf with friends and look out the windows at the beautiful bluffs. But since I was going home Tuesday afternoon and wasn’t going to have time to eat dinner in the Caf, I was super happy to grab a bag of food to eat on the trip. I got this awesome veggie bagel sandwich along with an apple and two cookies, and it was delicious.
4) I’m thankful for the Luther shuttle bus, which brought me home on Tuesday!
Some people on Luther’s campus live close by or have cars on campus that they can drive home. I am not one of those people. So I definitely appreciate the convenience of Luther shuttle service. It’s super easy to get tickets at the box office in the CFL and the buses come straight to the Dahl Centennial Union building. The bus brought me home in record time, which brings me to….
5) I am thankful to be home with my family!
As much as I love Luther, it’s always great to be with the people I love! I’ve spent my time watching cartoons with my brother, going to the mall, and baking, and tonight, I am going to my grandparents’ house to celebrate Thanksgiving with them.
And now, because I only have so much time at home, I am going to go spend time with my family! I hope you all have a fabulous day, and I will write again next week.
