It’s finally spring! The weather the last few weekends has been really nice so I decided to spend some time outside exploring Decorah.
My aunt and my cousins were in Decorah for the day and decided to swing by Luther and pick me up. First we went to Pulpit Rock and walked all the way up to the top, and then continued on the trail until it came to a dead end. The view from the top was amazing—you could look down upon Decorah the whole time! The rest of the trail led to a highway; right across the highway was Luther's very own wind turbine sitting in a big field.
After Pulpit Rock, we went to Phelps Park and walked on of the trails there. Phelps Park has a nice view of the river and valley. Afterwards we spent some time sitting in the park and enjoying the sunshine. We decided to call it a day and made plans to explore some more trails in Decorah during Easter break.
I spent Easter break at my aunt's house; it was a nice break and a fantastic Easter. On Easter Sunday we spent the afternoon in Decorah. First we went to Dunning Springs (it was my first time there). Dunning Springs is a beautiful waterfall just a short walk from Luther's campus. The waterfall was stunning! Next we went to Palisade Park and walked some of the trails there. From the top of one of the trails you can see the whole city and it is easy to see why Expedia named Decorah the most beautiful town in Iowa. After Palisade Park we had a picnic in Phelps Park and did some swinging.
Decorah has a lot of trails and I am excited to go on more of them as the weather continues to get nicer. Spring has arrived and it reminds me that the end of the semester is near. I am so close to being done with my first year of college. I have spent some time reflecting on this year and the experiences I have had and the things I have learned. This year has gone by so fast and I cannot believe that it is almost over. I’m looking forward to more beautiful days exploring Decorah.
