Colorings, Scarfs, and Relaxtion

There are some weeks when it seems like all the tests, papers, and projects are due at the same time. College can get to be stressful many times. This past week was one of those stressful weeks for me. On Monday,  I had a paper due, my first Latin test , and a mountain of homework. I was staying up later to finish homework, the stress and sleep deprivation was getting to me.

It is important for everyone to find ways to relieve stress. It just so happened that in my Fitness and Wellness class one of the topics we discussed was stress relief. During our activity day we did some deep breathing, progressive relaxation, visualization, and coloring. I came out of class that day feeling so rejuvenated  (it probably helps that I slept for  bit) The stress relief activity  day could not have come at a better time. I had chair auditions for Varsity Band later that day, which I was nervous for. Because I was so relaxed, I did not get nervous like I usually do before an audition. and I played better because of that.

Earlier this week my friend invited me to come to knitting club. Waling down the hall I could hear music playing. It turns out that is was coming from the room knitting club is in. I did not have any yarn or chrochet hooks with me. Luckily, knitting club has plenty of yarn  to use as well as knitting needles or crochet hooks that you can check out. .I lack the ability to knit, I would not even know how hold the needles. Right now I am satisfied with my crochet skills, but if I ever want to learn I will have plenty of teachers in knitting club.

During Knitting club, some people will work on their own personal projects and others will work on a project for knitting club. Right now we are making rainbow scarves and other winter clothing items to give to the homeless. It was nice to take a break from studying to be able to relax, and make something for someone in need.  Knitting club is  nice way to relax and take a break from studying and the stress of college. I can’t wait to go again next week, I imagine that knitting club will soon become the highlight of my week.

I started making this scarf in kitting club this week. After a relaxing weekend of Netflix and Crocheting I had this finished scarf. The Norse Knitters will be donating this scarf and other hand made items to people in need. It's a way to relieve stress and give back to the community. It really is a win-win situation!
