I did it! I officially graduated from Luther College!! I walked across the stage, got my diploma (well the holder, not the actual piece of paper), and took about three million pictures! I returned my dorm room key and moved out for the last time. I hugged the friends, professors and role models who have been with me in this four year long journey and I said goodbye…for now!
We go to college for roughly four years. Some of us go on to graduate school; some go into the workforce; others continue their education or work in another country, and still others move back into their parent’s house. But when do we really become the person we are working so hard to be? For me that means asking…Am I a sociologist yet?
A ring, at first thought, may just seem like a piece of jewelry. Technically it is, but a “Luther Ring” is much more than that! Don’t get me wrong, I was skeptical at first too, but there really is power in this red and gold ring that has an 'L' and a couple numbers on it. Read more to see why.
Friends and family of soon to be graduates: this is a call to you all. Please read this blog in hopes of relieving some of the stress already thrust upon the college seniors in your life! If you don’t read this blog, I still urge you to avoid the worst question you could ask over the Easter holiday: “So what are you doing after graduation?” Trust me...don’t do it.
The intentions were great: do some reading at a local coffee shop…Well, very little reading got done, but the night continued to be filled with a couple of cocktails and a three course meal at my favorite restaurant (and job) in town: Rubaiyat, with my favorite and only roommate!
Spring break: A time for travel and sunshine and beaches, right? That does sound like fun, and I wouldn’t complain about having that kind of break, but what I really need requires very little travel and a lot of love and relaxation. What I need is quite simple. A break.
When looking at colleges I was very adamant about not being too close to home. I wanted to be as far away as possible in order to start a new phase of my life. You know, all those angsty ridden thoughts almost every senior in high school has. In my case, the distance from home worked out great! Read more to hear why!
Where most people dread their senior paper, I cannot be more excited for mine! Don’t get me wrong, it is a ton of work and I feel like every spare minute I have (and minutes that I don’t) are devoted to it, but so far all the work has been more than worth it! Read more to hear about the cool stuff I’m learning.
