This past Friday, a couple girls that I live with and I decided to check out the Luna Valley Farm’s Pizza Nights! One of the other girls we live with works there, so Grace (one of the girls I went with) thought it would be fun to experience the pizza farm. We were all looking forward to stuffing our faces with (hopefully) delicious pizza, so we hopped into Grace’s car (me, Grace, and Kristina)–and off we went!
When we got to the farm, there were already quite a few people there, including many Luther students. Kristina and I decided to share a pizza, and then Grace got a smaller one for herself. The pizza is cooked outside in a wood fired oven, which was a cool thing in and of itself, but it also makes them taste AMAZING! (it might also be all the local and/or organic ingredients, too!) It can take almost an hour for them to cook, so during that time we wandered around and explored the farm.
We first noticed this small pen of a couple lambs down the hill, so we definitely made that one of the first places we checked out. They were so cute! Then, we climbed up this huge hill that overlooks the barn to try to find the garden. By then, though, it had gotten pretty dark outside–so we didn’t have much luck with actually seeing anything. The view on top of the hill was pretty, though!
After we got back down the hill, we caught sight of an empty picnic table–so we snagged that, as our pizzas were almost ready! The anticipation was real, and by that time we were all pretty hungry, too. We chatted for awhile at the picnic table, and then–it was time. Our numbers came up, and Kristina went to get our pizzas. We cracked open the boxes, and ah–that smell. Mozzarella cheese, fresh basil, and tomatoes (and sausage on Grace’s)–YUM. Kristina and I easily finished off our entire pizza, as did Grace with her smaller one. It was SO GOOD! After chatting awhile longer, we all piled back into Grace’s car and drove back to Luther.
It was an awesome experience, and I’m glad I decided to go! I’m generally pretty busy once it hits late Saturday/Sunday with homework and such. That being said, I haven’t gotten that much of a chance to get to know the people I’m living with that well yet. Getting to know Grace and Kristina a bit better was great! I also enjoyed relaxing after a pretty long week, and the fantastic pizza was a plus. :) I can’t wait until we go back!
