Read about Amber, Eli, Faye, Jack, and Tamar's experiences at Luther!

A Brief Introduction

For starters, let me introduce myself. My name is Tamar Tedla. I am originally from St. Paul, Minnesota. I have three younger siblings ond one adorable cat. My parents are from Eritrea, a small country in East Africa. They have lived in America for over 20 years. I am so lucky to have them as my parents and blessed to have learned so much from them.

I attended high school at Woodbury, where I was very active in theatre and music. I participated in musicals, speech, and choir throughout my high school career. Although I found so much comfort in performing, I found that what I liked most about high school was the people I met. Meeting new people and creating deep and meaninigful relationships made me incredibly happy. It wasn't until my summer before my first year of college when I figured out what I wanted to do with my life. I decided to major in social work so I could continue to make relationships with others along with helping those who need it the most.

Here at Luther, I am still majoring in social work along with a major in sociology. With sociology, I am able to better understand how different cultures and societies work and have a better grasp on human behavior. I am also very active on campus, which allows me to learn so much and meet so many amazing people. I am very excited to see where the next few years at Luther will take me!

Tamar is a sophomore from Saint Paul, Minnesota studying Social Work and Sociology. She is incredibly involved on campus, paricipating in SAC Concerts, SAC Cinema, SAC Events, Black Student Union, PRIDE, Choir, Vocal Jazz, Beautiful Mess, Active Minds, and theatre. When she graduates, Tamar would like to work with people with disabilities, and hopefully own a cat.
