I'm Amber, and I'm a sophomore communication studies major here at Luther. I've been back on campus for already a little over a month, which is crazy! The time seems to be going by even faster than last year.
I'm thrilled to be able to document my time at Luther for you all! I always used to check out the admissions blogs to see the "real college student" perspective, so hopefully I can provide that.
This year has already been a lot different than last year–in academics, living situation, and more. I'll try to give a general recap of how the last month has been for me in this first post!
I’m taking Cultural Anthropology, Religion and Culture, Concepts of Media Production I, and Norwegian 101 this semester. I’m focusing more this semester on classes for my anthropology minor that I plan to declare by the end of the year. One thing I’ve definitely noticed with this new schedule is how much more group work/projects I have in my classes. The workload has definitely kept me busy, but it’s doable.
I’m also taking saxophone lessons again this semester, and playing in varsity band again. Varsity Band is the non-audition band here at Luther. Concert Band is the top band, and Wind and Percussion Ensemble is the step up after varsity band. I find that varsity band is an easier time commitment, with my already hectic schedule. We just had a concert this last Saturday for Family Weekend, where we played two pieces.
Finally, my other on-campus job has kept me plenty busy since the new school year has started! I work in the media relations office, writing for Luther's social media accounts. It’s a super fun job, and definitely a good break from classes.
Thanks for reading–I look forward to sharing my sophomore year with you!
