The Happy Way to Buy

I am not much of an online shopper and even less of an impulse buyer but I have recently made an impulse that I am proud of. I have discovered a liking for products sold by nonprofit organizations. My impulse buy was a hat from an organization called “Love Your Mellon.” Love Your Mellon is a nonprofit out of the University of Minnesota that sells cool and simple winter hats, and for every hat that someone buys they donate a hat to the pediatric oncology ward at the university hospital. I loved the concept and I love my new hat. When I was home over Thanksgiving break my brother and sister randomly gifted me a bowtie they had bought. Interestingly enough they bought it from a nonprofit organization, called “Tie the Knot,” that raises money for marriage equality. I think I have found a way to buy awesome products, such as winter hats and bowties, without feeling guilty for spending money. I know this isn’t a new concept but I’m glad I have had this personal discovery.
