“I wanted to go to a college where they supported diversity and people of color, and Luther welcomed me and others with open arms.”
Diversity is important to me because from first-hand experience, I was the only minority in my class, and one of two families of color in my entire town. It was really hard for me to really express my culture and its values with others who could not relate, or thought it was "strange" or "weird." I wanted to find a community and a college where I could truly embody my identity as a Chamorro woman, and share my culture with others. I wanted to go to a college where they supported diversity and people of color, and Luther welcomed me and others with open arms.
