"The Bellfie": No school year is complete without taking a picture by the Luther bell. Yearly bellfies are encouraged.
Convocation: One way Luther welcomes back its faculty, students, and staff is at Opening Convocation. Everyone gathers in the Center for Faith and Life to learn from a speaker who talks about that semester's academic theme.
Outdoor Movie Night: Students gather under the stars in Bentdahl Commons to watch a movie projected on the big screen.
Residence Hall Trick-or-Treat: The community is invited to trick-or-treat in the first-year res halls. Not only are the kids' costumes adorable, it is an excuse to buy candy!
Outdoor Traditions: Include doing the L-U-T-H-E-R chant at sporting events, squirrel watching, biking, camping, and laying around in hammocks.
Homecoming: Each year, more 2,500 alumni and friends gather for Homecoming. Attend the Homecoming parade, mingle at the Luther tailgate, dance the night away at the Flamingo Ball, or explore Decorah's best attractions.
We embrace the snow at Luther! Snowball fights, snowman making, snowshoeing, cross county skiing, and ice skating are a must. Just bundle up!
Orange Day: Orange Day in the cafeteria is a favorite for many students. Foods served include: macaroni, chicken nuggets, tomato soup, grilled cheese, and Goldfish.
Christmas at Luther: Luther's musical celebration of Christmas in the college's beautiful Center for Faith and Life features performances by six choirs and an orchestra. Luther's motto, Soli Deo Gloria, is also displayed in the windows of Main during this time.
Did you know? Every year, the tree in Bentdahl Commons is decorated with lights as a giant holiday tree!
Christmas in the Union: The Luther and Decorah communities gather in the Union for cookie decorating, crafts, holiday music, hot cocoa, cider, and a visit from Santa.
