Teaching Writing and Ethical Reasoning in Paideia 450

  • Date: Monday, July 9, 2018
  • Time: 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
  • Location: Preus Library, Hovde Room

How can the writing that students do in Paideia 450 develop their critical thinking and ethical reflection?  What writing assignments—both formal and informal—will help students grow at this stage of their development and build toward a culminating experience?  This workshop will explore ways of getting key elements of moral decision-making into focus with an opportunity to exchange specific ideas for stimulating reflection, discussion, and writing in Paideia 450: "Ethical Choices."  In this two-day workshop, there will be time to discuss participant's questions or concerns and also time to work on course development. Whether you are new to Paideia 450 or a veteran instructor, please come with ideas to share as we explore the role of ethical reasoning and writing in our college’s capstone experience.

This workshop meets both July 9 and July 10. Work will be expected during the morning of each day, outside the scheduled group meeting time each afternoon. Participants will receive a $100 stipend for this two-day workshop.

Facilitators:  Storm Bailey and Mike Garcia
