Working toward a more cohesive semester on the new Paideia 111 enduring question, “What Connects and Divides Us,” this two-day workshop provides interested faculty and staff time to read Fall 2019 semester texts and discuss the thematic connections between those texts. The readings include Cantú’s The Line Becomes a River (summer reading), Fugard’s “Master Harold”…and the boys, Hurston’s Their Eyes Were Watching God, chapters from Neurotribes: The Legacy of Autism and the Future of Neurodiversity, Hao’s “Folding Beijing,” Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, and materials from the architectural firm Snöhetta. Faculty participants will receive a $100 stipend. Facilitators: Marie Drews, Martin Klammer, Kathy Reed, and Stephanie Travers
