Luther’s Summer Nottingham Nursing Program and the International Music Festival of the Adriatic run every year.

Nursing 420 and 421: Population Based Care

This is a summer study away opportunity in Nottingham, England for nursing students. The course focuses on levels of prevention and the use of the nursing process to promote, maintain, and protect the health of individuals, groups and communities.

Theoretical content mirrors that which is taught in on-campus courses, while the clinical experience fulfills those requirements while studying abroad. You’ll be immersed in another culture and the many diverse groups that make up that culture. In addition, you’ll have the opportunity to gain first-hand experience in another health care delivery system.

First-Hand Clinical Experiences: You’ll work one-to-one with pediatric nurses, health visitors, and district nurses.

Additional Travel Experiences: Trips are planned to nearby communities, castles in the area, and a weekend trip to London. This course begins in early July and ends in late July. You are responsible for the costs of airfare while housing, meals, ground transportation and educational tours are all included in the cost of the program.

String players, pianists, singers, and composers will experience three weeks of collaborative music making in the inspirational setting of the United World College of the Adriatic in Duino, Italy. This diverse region of Italy enjoys a blend of Italian, Slovenian, and Austro-Hungarian culture, making it a wonderful region in which to explore and to perform a wide variety of music.

The UWC Adriatic has excellent facilities where you will enjoy frequent lessons, coaching, master classes, and rehearsals. Italian instruction will also be available and is required for singers (optional for instrumentalists and composers). A two-day excursion to Venice is also part of the program.

Weekly student and faculty concerts will be held in Duino and in the surrounding areas.

Additional details, including the online application, may be found on the International Music Festival of the Adriatic website.
