About Coach Wettach:

  • Head Men's and Women's Track and Field Coach
  • Assistant professor and academic advisor for Luther College's Health and Physical Education department
  • Has served as the Director of the Distance Running Camp since 1997

  • Men's Track and Field head coach from 1987 to present
  • Women's Track and Field head coach from 2006 to present
  • Luther College Assistant football coach from 1985-1996 and 2015-16
  • Men's Cross country head coach from 1997 through 2004
  • Coached 104 IIAC champions, over 500 All-conference performers, 46 All Americans
  • 1995 IIAC Coach of the Year for Men's Track and Field
  • USA Track and Field Certified Level I and II in jumping events
  • USTFCCCA certified in Strength & Conditioning

Prior to Luther 

  • 1979 through 1985: Coached several sports at West Delaware High School in Manchester, Iowa (Head Boys Track and Field Coach from 1982 through 1985)

As an Athlete

  • 1975 graduate of Mt. Pleasant (Iowa) High School: 4-sport All-State recognition
  • 1979 graduate of Luther College. Four-year letter winner in both football and track and field
  • All-conference in football (1978) and still in the Luther record books for number of interceptions in a season
  • All-conference Track and Field and NCAA qualifier in long jump
  • Staff advisor for The Friends Organization (mentoring group on campus)
