On February 17, 2013 four students from Luther College drove over 30 hours to attend the Forward on Climate Rally in Washington DC to protest the construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline that would bring tar-sand oil from Alberta, Canada through the United States.
Organized by 350.org and other environmental organizations this was the largest climate rally ever in the United States drawing almost 50,000 people from across the nation.

Spend a semester in Washington D.C.! Luther College is part of a consortium of eleven Lutheran colleges that operate a Washington Semester program. The central feature of the program is a four-day-a-week internship based on the student's desire and needs. In addition, each student takes two courses and has plenty of time to explore the city, national parks and monuments, museums and galleries.
