Green Business Council Internship

Position Start Date:  June 1, 2013
Position End Date:  Anytime between August 17 - Aug 25, 2013

Work Expectations:  20 hrs/week
Pay Rate:  $7.25 per hour

This is a summer position working with Decorah’s Green Business Council to support the efforts of the council while working closely with area businesses on sustainability initiatives.

Job Responsibilities May Include:

    Research

  • Research models in other communities and make recommendations for best practices for the Decorah Area GBC
  • Research current business usage to develop a bulk purchasing program through the Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce
  • Develop timeline to put methods found into practice

    Coordination

  • Coordinate GBC meeting times
  • Attend meetings and take minutes
  • Work with Executive Director to develop agendas
  • Coordinate Nordicfest waste initiatives

    Communication

  • Write articles for business newsletter on business best practices
  • Write press releases on the work of the GBC
  • Identify best connection to the DACC business community

 
Specific Skills Required

Computer:  Competent in windows operating system. Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook. Must have desktop publishing experience, Publisher experience is preferred. Desire to become competent in other software programs including online web programs. Proficient in the workings of the Internet along with decorahareachamber.com

Physical Skills:  Sedentary work within office; involves sitting most of the time. During events in or out of the office, job will involve walking or standing for extensive periods of time; must be able to move tables and chairs and be able to lift heavy materials (boxes of brochure, display kits, printed materials, etc.).
