Sustainable Decorah Summer Internship
Position Start Date: Anytime between May 21 and June 1, 2013

Work Expectations: 40 hrs/week for at least 10 weeks
Pay Rate: $7.25 per hour
This is a summer position working with the City of Decorah to implement sustainability projects. Regular meetings between the student worker, the City of Decorah and Luther College Sustainability Coordinator will take place. The student worker will be responsible for putting together a report summarizing work accomplished during the summer, due by the last day of work.
Potential Projects Include, but not Limited to...
- Review Decorah WE Can work and identify and prioritize projects from this document to work on
- Review Sustainable Decorah Plan and identify and prioritize projects from this document to work on
- Identify and market all current sustainability initiatives through specific web pages
- Identify and promote water conservation initiatives (Rain barrel collection, rain gardens, rain garden education/outreach)
- Bike path signage
- Promote UHaul Car Share as a service available to the community
- Explore the addition of more bike racks in downtown locations
- Create a Google map of houses that have participated in Winneshiek Energy District Programs
- Explore adding a bike share program to the Decorah Public Library
- Explore adding downtown recycling bins next to each garbage receptacle
