Program Manager Position(s)

The Savanna Institute invites applications for one or more Program Manager(s). We seek applicants who share our passion for restorative and resilient agricultural practices. The Program Manager will manage a subset of the diverse research and education programs of the Savanna Institute. This position reports to the co-Executive Directors.

Job Description

Hours: Full-time OR Part-time; flexible hours – indicate whether you prefer full- or part-time in your application.

Location: Flexible, but generally in Central/Southern WI or Northern/Central IL. Occasional reimbursed travel.

Rate of Pay: $15-20 per hour, commensurate with experience

Profile: Preference is for applicants willing to transition to full-time as the organization grows. All qualified applicants welcome; farmers and members of under-represented groups are encouraged to apply.

Degree Requirement: Bachelor's or equivalent in related field, with experience in agroforestry, forestry, horticulture, grazing, or other perennial agricultural practice

Start Date: April 1, 2018, flexible

Primary Responsibilities

Research

  • Coordinate on-farm research projects
  • Collect & compile farm data
  • Establish & manage agroforestry R&D sites
  • Manage PerennialMap.org development
  • Coordinate The Honey Locust Contest
  • Coordinate Bulk Plant Program
  • Manage grant record-keeping & reporting

 

 Education

  • Organize field days & workshops
  • Develop online educational program
  • Develop landowner educational program
  • Organize annual farmer gathering
  • Attend & present at conferences
  • Coordinate farmer-intern matching program
  • Manage interns & volunteers

Outreach Coordinator Position

Location: Flexible

Rate of Pay: $10-12 per hour, commensurate with experience

  • Develop social media marketing
  • Assist with outreach campaigns, event planning, and general public relations
  • Assist with education campaigns including video/audio production and editing
  • Manage community contact data
