Assistant Director, Center for Sustainable Communities
Luther College invites applications for the position of Assistant Director of the newly created Luther Center for Sustainable Communities. The Assistant Director will work with the faculty director and other partners to promote sustainability on campus and throughout the region. Specific responsibilities include collaborating with staff in facilities, student life, and other campus departments to integrate sustainability into campus operations and student life; teaching one or two courses per year on topics related to sustainability; planning and implementing workshops and conferences on sustainability for various constituencies; and developing student internships and partnerships with individuals, businesses, congregations, and other community organizations to advance sustainability initiatives in the community and region.
A master’s degree and at least 2 years of relevant experience in higher education and/or sustainability are required. Candidates must have an understanding of and commitment to sustainability efforts and demonstrate through previous work the ability to engage and ignite that interest in others. Our position will require excellent communication skills, both interpersonally in small and large groups and in the written word. Candidates must be team oriented and organized.
