Trout SKI 5K Nordic Ski Race

The Green Iowa AmeriCorps team, in partnership with the Winneshiek Energy District, is hosting the first annual Trout SKI 5k Nordic Ski Race on February 22nd. Inspired by Green Iowa AmeriCorps member Andrew Papke-Larson, the event “will be a fun morning of skiing for all ages.” Parking and restrooms, along with the start and finish lines, will be at the Decorah Trout Hatchery. All registration is the morning of, with the race beginning at 10:00 a.m.

A $10 suggested donation is requested per participant, which will go toward supporting the local energy efficiency efforts of Green Iowa AmeriCorps and the Winneshiek Energy District. According to Papke-Larson, “the Trout SKI will be a fun opportunity to get out and enjoy some winter weather while helping a local organization dedicated to energy efficiency improvements and energy education. Bring a friend and support your community.” Hot chocolate will be provided for skiers and spectators.
