Do you want to get home for break but don’t have a car and can’t find a ride? Then take advantage of the shuttle service provided by Luther’s sustainability department. At the beginning and end of each school year and break, a Luther College or Hawkeye Stages bus will transport students to and from the Minnesota, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Iowa areas. For more information, such as departure times and prices, and to reserve a seat, visit www.luther.edu/shuttle.
Don’t have a car on campus, but still need to go downtown to take care of your shopping needs? New to Luther this year, the shuttle makes a twice-monthly trip to downtown Decorah and Wal-Mart, free of charge. For departure dates and times and to sign up for a trip, click here.
If you're in need of a ride somewhere, check out the rideshare website. You can make ride requests or volunteer as a driver. It's a great way to connect with other traveling students at Luther.
U Car Share
Luther has two cars available for any student, faculty, or staff to use for short trips whenever they want. The cars are parked behind the library parking lot. If a car is there, enter your account number and take it! No wait, no fuss. Members can pay by mile or by hour, depending of the length and distance of the trip. For more information, click here.
Office Supply Reuse Station
Do you have office/school supplies that you don't want anymore? Do you need office supplies, but would rather not spend the cash? Stop by the closet across from Valders 372F in the sustainability and environmental studies suite from 8am-5pm, Monday through Friday, to drop off and pick up used supplies such as folders, binders, notebooks, and other office materials. It's a simple, sustainable way to get rid of the supplies you no longer need and find the supplies you want.
Green Certification Program
Green room/office certification is a way for students and employees to get recognition for living a sustainable lifestyle on campus. There are three levels of certification each more rigorous than the previous. Level one is as simple as filling out the energy conservation pledge and the green certification application form. The Green Room forms (for students) can be found here, and the Green Office forms (for faculty and staff) can be found here. Get green certified and show others that you are sustainable!
Wondering where you can recycle? Sustainability has a page dedicated to explaining how and where you can recycling any of your unwanted materials, located here.
