Decorah Parks Bike Tour

Phelps Park

Let a member of SPOKES (Luther's student biking organization) guide your group on a tour of the beautiful parks in Decorah.  Starting at the Union, you will bike to Will Baker Park, taking a short break to hike to the top of Pulpit Rock and take in the overlook view of the west side of Decorah.  From there you will cut through the city campground and ride through Twin Springs Park before taking Dug Road trail along the river and up to Phelps Park.  Next, you will cruise through downtown Decorah on the way to Palisades Park.  The ride back to campus will be on Ice Cave Road with a stop and short hike at Dunning Springs Park before reaching campus. All along the way the SPOKES guide will highlight the new Trout Run Trail, the Cut, tubing and canoe outfitters, mountain biking, hiking, and running opportunities, and popular downtown student destinations.

There is an optional picnic along the way for students on a board plan.  If you would like to do this, please let us know so we can coordinate this with the Caf.

  • Approximate time duration:  1.5 - 2 hours
  • Distance - 7.5 miles with a few hills
