Luther has purchased eight hybrid vehicles which are replacing regular sedans in the vehicle fleet. After completing studies on gasoline usage and greenhouse gas emissions, it has been determined that the hybrids will reduce Luther's greenhouse gas emissions by 24,000 pounds per year.
Luther's crew of student recyclers is now riding greener in a compressed natural gas pickup truck. This truck appears normal, but it runs on a fuel of compressed natural gas. This fuel reduces carbon emissions by 35 percent compared to an average pickup.
