SPOKES Bike Shop is one of the two main organs of student biking on Luther's campus, the other being SPOKES Bike Club.
Originally called Flip's Bike Shop, it was named after Matthew ‘Flip’ Busche, a professional cyclist and recent graduate of Luther College.
The bike shop opened in October 2011, offering students, faculty, and staff a place to learn about bike maintenance in a friendly, student-run atmosphere. Only charging for parts, the shop’s tools and services are free. The shop is run with the intention of helping bikers become more knowledgeable about how their bikes work.
The hours for this Spring 2015 are:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday 3 p.m.-5 p.m.; Tuesday, Thursday 8 a.m.-9:30 a.m.; Sunday, 3 p.m.-5 p.m.
The shop is located in the bottom floor of Regents, across from the equipment checkout desk. Flip's offers many free services as well as some services at a small fee. Services include:
Tire Pump up
Cable housing: $1/foot
Wheel Truing: $5/each
Derailleur Cable: $2/each
Brake Cable: $2/each

SPOKES's Bike Shop is not just a shop, however. It is open as a place to come and learn about biking in Decorah, as well as biking and general repairs. The shop has hopes of conducting seminars and clinics in the spring, so be sure to express your interest! Please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested!
With the help of Luther’s Wellness Department, two 29” mountain bikes and helmets are available for check out for 24-hours at a time for an annual fee of $20. Trail maps and group ride information can be found in the shop.
