Luther College $1.2 million Solar Energy Field Nears Completion

Luther College's new $1.2 million solar energy field is nearing completion says Steven Peters, president of Dragonfly Solar, the company constructing the array of solar panels which will be the largest single solar energy production facility in the state of Iowa when it goes online in early July.

Luther College sets goals for achieving carbon neutrality by 2030

Luther College Regents have endorsed a timetable for the college to achieve a carbon neutral campus and have authorized President Richard Torgerson to plan and pursue sustainable methods of operation and energy conservation initiatives that will take the college to its zero carbon footprint goal.

Luther College has been selected to receive a 2012 Second Nature Climate Leadership Award, recognizing Luther as one of the nation's leading colleges and universities with regard to reducing greenhouse gas emissions on campus and integrating this goal with the college's educational mission.

Luther furthers commitment to local food through meat purchases

In a reflection of Luther College's commitment to sustainable food and local producers, Luther is pleased to announce that 100 percent of burgers served on campus are made with beef from Grass Run Farms, a locally owned business that works with farmers in the region to raise antibiotic-free, pasture-based beef.

Luther sustainability efforts receive foundation support

Feb. 16, 2012     

Luther College will implement several new sustainability initiatives thanks to a generous grant from the Margaret A. Cargill Foundation. The MAC Foundation awarded $383,612 to Luther to support efforts in environmental education and sustainability on campus.
