Luther College reduces campus-wide spraying

Fertilizing will take place May 26-27
In an effort to be more sustainable, Luther College has reduced campus-wide spraying to an annual herbicide-spraying application. This spring, the college will instead spot spray in limited areas as dictated by need.

Luther will fertilize the campus lawns to provide well-maintained, visually attractive grounds for Luther students, employees and visitors. Weather permitting, the procedure will occur May 26-27, outside of normal work hours.

Application is done according to the product guidelines and in compliance with the Safety Data Sheet, which is maintained for all products used. The Safety Data Sheet contains information on the potential health effects of exposure to chemicals, or other potentially dangerous substances, and on safe working procedures users should adhere to when handling chemical products.

Wind speeds will be checked before the application occurs. In no case will product be applied when the wind speed exceeds 10 miles per hour.

A representative of Luther's Facilities Services will be present during the application process.
