What's Currently Happening
Decorah Shopping Shuttle - Saturday, September 4th from 1:30 - 3:30PM
A twice-monthly shuttle to downtown Decorah and Wal-Mart for a shopping run. Meet in the Student Organizational Suite 10 minutes before departure. Advanced sign up is highly recommended.
FREE BWP Canoe Shuttles - Wednesdays and Saturdays
BWP is now offering FREE, twice-weekly canoe shuttles for students, faculty and staff on the Upper Iowa River. The approximately 1 - 1.5 hour float is meant to be an short, easy way for getting as many people on the river as possible. Whether you are experienced or not at canoeing, we invite you to join us. Advanced sign up is required.
Luther Reuse Sale - Thursday, September 9th from 5:00 - 7:00PM
The Luther Reuse Sale located in the Ashmore-Jewell Barn next to Baker Village will take place Thursday, Sept. 9th from 5:00 - 7:00 PM. The Aug. 26th date was postponed. As a replacement of the annual Luther College auction, the reuse sale will sell a variety of items no longer needed by the College. Visit the Reuse Sale page to get an idea of what's available.
The Cottonwood Update
Keep up to date with sustainability at Luther by subscribing to our sustainability newsletter. The first edition was released last week and is available online right now. If you would like to have future newsletters e-mailed to you, be sure to fill out the subscription form.
Land Stewardship Draft Plan
Over the next two months a committee will be talking with faculty, staff, and students at Luther and the general public about a draft stewardship plan they create. They want to know what people think about the vision presented in the revised plan, and hope others will help fill in the gaps in knowledge about the 1000 acres covered by this plan.
Office Supplies Reuse Station
Luther College Sustainability has opened an Office Supplies Reuse Station in Valders 372B (the Environmental Studies/Sustainability Suite) where faculty/staff from different departments can drop off and pick up used office supplies (binders, folders, organizers etc.). The room is open from 8am-5pm Monday through Friday for drop off and pick up of supplies.
Request to get rid of "Stuffers" in your SPO
The Document Center is allowing students to opt out of receiving stuffers. By submitting this form, you will add your name to a list of individuals who will not receive "stuffers" in their SPO. Stuffers is the SPO term for mailings sent to all students without SPO number indication, including but not limited to mailings sent by Pizza Ranch. Click here to check it out!
New Luther Rideshare Web Site
Luther's new rideshare Web site is an easy way for Luther students, faculty and staff to offer and post rides with a user-friendly Google Maps interface. Whether you're looking for passengers, or looking for a ride, this new technology makes carpooling easy. Click here to check it out!

Luther students have started disposing of fruit and vegetable waste in worm composting bins installed January 15. Worms eat our garbage!
Decorah Bald Eagle Camera
For the upcoming 2010 nesting season, Luther has offered to host the Decorah Bald Eagle web page. Our web hosting capabilities makes it possible for the Raptor Resource Project to offer live video and audio to interested schools and the general public. View the Decorah bald eagles in action!
Luther Car-Sharing Survey
Does Luther need a car-sharing program? If one were offered, would you use it? We're looking to students, faculty, staff, prospective students and community members to help us make this decision by filling out a quick survey.
College Sustainability Report Card names Luther one of 26 top colleges and universities in nation
Luther was one of 26 institutions that achieved an overall grade of “A-“ or better across all categories and won recognition as Overall College Sustainability Leaders. This honor even got Luther mentioned in a New York Times article!
