Welcome Dance: August 31, 2008 "Celebrate Community"
The WESTERN HOME STRING contra band will play in the CFL circle on Sunday evening to the delight of the first-year students. The local Moo-mobile will serve shakes, as well as pizza and lawn games to welcome everyone back to Luther. Sponsored by Wellness, College Ministries, and Student Congregation.
Service Project - September 6-7, 2008
This involved 465 first-year students along with 37 Resident Assistants spending two hours at a time cleaning, sorting, and stacking bricks taken from East Side Elementary School when it was demolished. Students had an educational session about the importance of recycling and reusing followed by a safety session before they headed over to the brick pile. The group moved TWO HUNDRED TONS in two days onto pallets after they had been cleaned. The bricks will be used at a later time for the building of an environmental house on campus.

Buddy Climb in the Dark September 12, 2008
The Legends Fitness Center climbing staff invite all students and staff to join them at the wall for a special opening from 7:30-9:00 p.m. this Friday night. Try the wall for the first-time or reacquaint yourself with the thrill of adventure as you climb in the dark. Bring along your headlamps for an evening of fun. Food, friends, and climbing—a perfect blend to the weekend.
Canoe trip: September 13, 2008 3 p.m. Wellness floors take to the Upper Iowa for an afternoon of canoeing and picnicking.
BIKE SHARE program: has been moved to Preus Library. There are now eight bicycles to check out for use in Decorah.
Frisbee Golf League: informal league on Sunday afternoons. Prizes given weekly to the winner by the Wellness Dept.

RAVE against Cancer: October 10, 2008. 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Brunsdale Lounge.
Help with the cancer treatment of a fellow Luther student as we raise money throughout the night. Entry fee to the RAVE is $1. There will also be mocktails and jello shots: two for a dollar; Root beer pong - $1 a play; Dollar Dance off - spare change and prizes given throughout the night. Adventure Race: October 12, 2008
Pick up a packet for this race at the Welcome Desk in the Union. This is a 90-minute canoe/kayak, 15-mile biking and 3 miles running race through the greater Decorah/Luther area. Race begins at 2 p.m.

TREASURE ISLAND - January Wellness Initiative for faculty/staff - Begins January 5 and runs through January 30. Sign up in teams of 5-6 and move along the treasure island board by exercising thirty-sixty minutes per day. Winning person of every game wins a Decorah Bucks certificate.
