2018 Be Well to the Nines Summer Challenge

Wellness is holding a 9 week summer challenge from June 17th to August 18th.  The challenge is to get 150 minutes of structured physical activity each week for nine weeks.  There is also a bonus wellness goal each week for nine more opportunities for prizes.  And, for those of us who need a bit of motivation along the way, there are mini motivational prizes after 3 and 6 weeks.  See all details below.

Register here and we will send you the challenge calendar (which is also the recording form!), and get you on our email list for challenge updates and reminders. If you would like to preview it before registering you can download it here or pick up a printed copy from the bulletin board outside Vicky Jaeger's office (Union 104).

You can join the challenge at any time, even if it is after the official start date.

At the end of the 9 weeks please return your completed challenge calendars to Wellness to be entered into the drawing for a variety of wellness related gizmos, gadgets, and experiences. Calendars can be returned as a hardcopy to office 266A in the Union (Chandra Jenning's office) or scanned and emailed as an attachment to [email protected] by 5 p.m. on August 20thPrizes will be drawn on the 21st.  Winners will be announced later that week.

9 Weeks of 150 Minutes of Physical Activity

Use the challenge calendar to record your physical activity each day.  Just write it on the calendar.  At the end of the week fill in the bubble if you meet the goal.

To meet the goal for the week you must do at least 10 minutes of activity each day of the week, and it must be structured activity.  This means outside of your regular work, chores, etc. Any structured activity like walking, dancing, running, playing tennis, hiking, a fitness class, biking, swimming, lifting, etc. counts.

For each week you meet the goal you will be entered in the drawing. 

9 Weekly Bonus Goals

Each of the 9 weeks we have included a bonus wellness goal to help you be well to the nines. Goals range from things like drinking water, to trying new fruits, and writing thank you notes. Use the challenge calendar to record your progress on the goal each day.  Just write it on the calendar.  At the end of the week fill in the bubble if you meet the goal.

For each week you meet a bonus goal you will get an additional entry into drawing.

Mini Motivational Prize Deadlines

To keep you motivated throughout the challenge we have included mini motivational prize opportunities after weeks 3 and 6.  All you have to do is email [email protected] with a synopsis of your progress by the deadline indicated on the calendar and we will send you some mini motivation to keep going!
