Student Organization Spotlight

This Month's Spotlight Goes To...

Two students pretend to be monkeys for a SPIN scene

SPIN Theatre Company is a student-led organization advised by faculty member Lisa Lantz. It offers opportunities for students of all years, majors, and experience levels. Students involved explore interests in acting, set design, directing, stage management, lighting/sound, and more.

Founded in 2004, SPIN premiered with Tom Stoppard's Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. Recent productions include Aristophanes' Lysistrata, and Yamina Reza's God of Carnage.

SPIN Theatre Company strives to be an innovative performance experience. The organization runs an annual haunted house for Halloween 2014. The company is always interested in hearing new and creative ideas from Luther students.

SPIN believes in giving back to the Luther community through philanthropy. Proceeds from the group's "24 Hour Musical" go towards the Robert J. Larson Endowment, which supports bringing guest artists to the Visual and Performing Arts Department.

The organization believes theatre should be available for everyone. Onstage, backstage, and in the audience.

Most proud of:

The annual Haunted House fundraiser…it is effective and so fun!

Favorite Event:

The first annual Haunted House…we weren’t sure if it was going to work, but it did and then we had an absolute blast!
