Christmas/Spring Break Room Closing Procedures

Before break a checklist along with a closing information memo is distributed to each residence hall room. These items can be downloaded at left.

All halls close at 7 p.m. the last day of classes.

(Towers and Baker Village remain open.)

Students who need to remain on campus past 7 p.m. or for a portion of break need to stay with a friend in Towers or Baker Village and obtain a form from the Residence Life Office.

Obtain the checklist form from your R.A.
The last roommate to leave must tape the form outside of the door to let your R.A. know when all roommates are gone.
A staff member will be entering rooms over break to make sure that the following has been completed.

Please make sure that all items below have been completed or that your roommates will take care of them.

Leave room clean and orderly
Empty your trash
Disconnect all electrical appliances, including refrigerators, so nothing (except aquariums) is plugged into a socket
Close and lock windows
Close drapes
Unplug, defrost, empty and clean refrigerator (leave refrigerator door open)
(Towers and Farwell only) Set thermostat to 60 degrees, fan on low
(Brandt, Ylvi, Olson, and Larsen only) Close vent in heating unit
Turn off lights
Lock the door
Tape the checklist/form to the outside of the room door

Note: There will be a $25 fine for each article of public area furniture found in student rooms.
