Housing and Dining

Life in a residence hall at Luther is an important part of the total educational opportunity available to students—and a distinguishing feature of the Luther community. More than 90 percent of Luther's 2,600 students live on campus all four years, a commitment to student life that strengthens programs in all disciplines and creates a sense of place. For many students, Luther is, simply, home.

From move-in day in a student's first year, the residence life program encourages a living environment that supports personal and interpersonal growth and academic achievement. The housing application is designed to help residence life staff select the best possible living situation for each student. Some upperclass students are allowed to live off campus, but the vast majority choose to live in one of five upperclass residence halls.

Luther's dining services also encourage community. Students eat in a common dining hall, centrally located in Dahl Centennial Union overlooking the Oneota Valley and Upper Iowa River.
