International Students
Many international students looking for internships and/or employment in the U.S. find it helpful to be able to determine which organizations will hire foreign employees. Knowing which organizations have applied for H-1B visas for their employees in the past is one way to identify those organizations willing to hire foreign workers. The Department of Labor publishes information that identifies which organizations have submitted Labor Condition applications requesting permission to temporarily employ a foreign worker in the U.S. on a nonimmigrant basis in a specialty occupation. The database listed below provides Luther College students with a way to access this information.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This database DOES NOT provide lists of available jobs and SHOULD NOT be used in that manner. You should use these lists simply to identify companies that have a history of being open to hiring international workers. Whether or not there are current positions available at these companies cannot be determined by this database.
The Department of Labor Search Page will allow you to view the H-1B Labor Certification Database. It allows you to search by employer, by state, and by occupational family.
