Lori Stanley joined the Luther College faculty in 1984. She is a professor in the Anthropology program, where her teaching and research focus on cultural and linguistic anthropology. Her primary areas of interest are Native North America and East Africa (Tanzania). She has a passion for introducing students to other cultures at home and abroad.
Stanley served as head of the department of Sociology, Anthropology & Social Work from 2000-2007, and as associate dean of the college from 2007-2012. In 2006 she was awarded the Dennis M. Jones Distinguished Teaching Professorship in the Humanities.
