It took over two hours in a battle that Luther won by a score of 3-2 over University of Dubuque to advance to the semifinals of the Iowa Conference Tournament. Set scores were 21-25, 25-16, 23-25, 25-18 and 15-7. The victory was a bit of sweet revenge as the Spartans handed the Norse a 3-1 defeat during the regular season in Decorah.
Luther tallied an attack percentage of .218 and was led by the trio of Sophia Brown, Hannah Wilson and Hannah Theisen. Brown led the team with 17 kills and was also credited with a team best four total blocks. Wilson provided 13 kills, while Theisen tallied 12. Lindsey Ryan, who surpassed the 1,000 assist mark for the season at Buena Vista last week, dished out 48 in this contest giving her a season total of 1,077. Alexis Dorschner and Brandi Knupp led the squad with 24 and 20 digs respectively. Jordyn Dudek tallied four of Luther's nine ace serves.
The Spartans were led by Klaudia Basierak who pounded out 27 kills. Susan Danielewski also reached double digits in this category with 13.
Luther will travel to #1 seed Wartburg College on Thursday, Nov. 1 for a semifinal match that will begin at 7:00 p.m.
