Three members of the Luther College track and field team have qualified for the 2013 NCAA III Women’s National Outdoor Track and Field Championships. University of Wisconsin-La Crosse will host the three-day championships May 23-25 at Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex, La Crosse, Wis.
Twenty-one events will be contested during the three days of competition. In each event eight All-America honors, including the national champion, will be recognized on the awards stand. Tricia Serres (Fr., Platteville, Wis.), has qualified in both the 800 (2:11.00) and 1500 (4:26.39) meter runs setting Luther school records in the process. She enters the NCAA III National Championship ranked 11th in the 800 and fourth in the 1500. The 1500 prelims will take place on Thursday, May 23 at 4:30 p.m., with the finals taking place at 2:50 p.m. Saturday, May 25. The 800 prelims will be held Friday, May 24 at 7:10 p.m., with the finals taking place at 4:20 p.m. on Saturday.
For the third consecutive year, Christina Storlie (Sr., Decorah, Iowa) has qualified in the 3000 steeplechase. Storlie posted a qualifying mark of 11:04.23 that ranks 19th from the field of 22 competitors. The prelims for the steeplechase will be held Thursday, May 23 at 7:50 p.m., with the finals being contested on Saturday, May 25 at 1:45 p.m.
Jackie Hoyme (Fr., Decorah, Iowa) will be making her first trip to the national outdoor finale qualifying in the discus. Hoyme has posted the 12th best throw in the nation of 144-9. The women’s discus finals will be held Thursday, May 23 at 2:15 p.m.
