Tricia Serres, a freshman from Platteville, Wis., established a new school record in the 800 meters this afternoon at the North Central College Gregory Qualifier. Serres posted a time of 2:11.03 outpacing the 31 competitors in the field. Serres broke the old mark of 2:12.27 set by Dani Meirick in 2010. Serres time ranks 12th in the NCAA III.
Serres, who will probably qualify for the NCAA III National Outdoor Track Championships in both the 800 and 1500, is wrapping up a remarkable first year. Prior to today's performance, she set school records in the Mile during the indoor season (4:50.50), 1500 outdoors (4:26.39) and ran the anchor leg of the conference champion and school record 4 x 800 (9:08.14). Her teammates in the 4 x 800 were Maggie Pierson, Annie Klepper and Kayla Uphoff.
