Tricia Serres set a school record in the 1500. Serres and Taylor Berg from University of St. Thomas gave the fans and 200-plus athletes in attendance a great show as the two top runners in the country in this event needed a photo finish to decide the winner. Berg crossed the line in 4:32.68, while Serres was clocked at 4:32.86. Serres broke the old mark held by Johanna Olson of 4:36.25 set in 2001.
Both of these athletes will probably cross paths again. Berg, a junior was an All-American indoors in the 5,000, while Serres, a freshman, was an All-American indoors in the Mile.
Berg's time currently ranks third in the NCAA III and Serres mark ranks fifth.
