Luther captured the team title of the Norse Relays this afternoon thanks to first place finishes in five of six relays contested and a number of top finishes in the field events. The Norse tallied 167 points finishing 51 points ahead of runner-up Augustana-Rock Island.
The Norse won the 4 x 100 (Erin Kammer, Jenna McGee, Anna Hennessy, Hannah Theisen), 4 x 200 (Kammer, Theisen, Hennessy, Kelsey Strand), 4 x400 (Hennessy, Theisen, McGee, Strand), 4 x 800 and 1600 Sprint Medley events.
The 4 x 800 foursome of Maggie Pierson, Annie Klepper, Sydney Gehrt and Tricia Serres set a new Carlson Stadium and Norse Relays record with a time of 9:19.95. This time also ranks second on Luther's all-time list.
The 1600 Sprint Medley of Jordyn Dudek, Leah Broderick, Marea Holkesvik and Serres posted the fifth fastest time in school history crossing the line in 4:16.14.
The 4 x 1600 squad of Jayne Cole, Kayla Uphoff, Lauren Mordini and Pierson finished third clocked at 21:44.91 that ranks eighth all-time.
Individually, Sophie Risau placed second in the 3000 Steeplechase (12:33.26). Addy Rickels (5-1 3/4), Broderick (4-9 3/4), and Theisen (4-7 3/4) placed first, second and third in the high jump. Broderick also placed second in the javelin (120-0) with a mark that ranks sixth all-time. Third in this same event was Anne Burke (109-1). Amanda Dunn and Jackie Hoyme placed second and third respectively in the discus. Dunn posted a mark of 136-4, while Hoyme's distance of 134-1 ranks eighth all-time. Dunn already ranks sixth all-time with a throw of 137-7.
The Norse are scheduled to return to action on Friday, April 19 at the Augustana-Rock Island Invitational. This meet is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m.
