Leah Broderick Named Iowa Conference Athlete of the Week

The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) announced today that the four Most Valuable Performers at last weekend's IIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships were named Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, May 11, 2014.

Leah Broderick, a junior, was named the Most Valuable Female Field Performer at the IIAC Championships for the second consecutive year. She won the heptathlon with 4,818 points – breaking the old conference meet record of 4,813 set by Central's Lindsay Schultz in 2004 and finishing nearly 500 points clear of her nearest competitor. Broderick also finished third in the high jump (1.59m; 5-2 1/2) and javelin throw (35.79m; 117-5) and fifth in the long jump (5.05m; 16-7).
