Tricia Serres Two-Time All-American at Indoor Nationals

Luther College sophomore Tricia Serres, earned two All-American honors at the NCAA Division III National Track and Field Indoor Championships held March 14-15 at the Bob Devaney Sports Center on the campus of Nebraska University.

Serres placed second in the Mile and third in the 3,000. The top-eight finishers earn All-American honors.

In the Mile, Serres finished second to Christy Cazzola of UW-Oshkosh, who set an NCAA III Indoor record by claiming her third consecutive national championship in this event. Cazzolla posted a winning time of 4:51.47, edging Serres by 0.5 seconds. Serres was clocked at 4:51.97.

2014 marked the first time a national champion was crowned in the 3,000 indoors. Cazzola passed Serres and Cara DeAngelis of Ohio Wesleyan on the final turn to claim the national title. Cazzola crossed the line with a time of 9:38.72, while DeAngelis was second at 9:39.17 and Serres was clocked at 9:39.49.

With her two All-American honors, Serres has now earned three indoor All-American honors, two in the Mile and one in the 3,000. Serres placed fourth in the Mile last year.

Serres is the daughter of Rob and Heidi Serres of Platteville, Wis.
