Lola White-Baer and Hailey Johnson improved to 6-0 this spring with an (8-2) victory over Miranda Pence and Caitee Margenthaler at No. 3 doubles, giving Luther a quick 1-0 advantage. Katy Lindstrom and Annie Whiteley went down an early break at No. 2, but broke back and then picked up a couple more breaks on the way to an (8-3) win against Krista Panko and Meghan Wethington. Augustana tallied its first point with an (8-5) decision at No. 1 where Kim Sawyer and Aileen MacDonald outlasted Luther’s Elise Allen and Maggie Helms.
Leading 2-1, the Norse extended the lead with another win from White-Baer, as she made quick work of Emily Kaczmarek at No. 2 by a (6-3, 6-0) score. MacDonald knocked off Lindstrom (6-3, 6-3) at No. 4 as the Vikings closed within 3-2, but Jenna Myers defeated Wethington (7-6 (3), 6-3) at No. 6 to make it 4-2. Helms clinched the match for the Norse with a hard fought (7-5, 6-3) win against Panko at No. 3. Allen lost a (6-4, 6-3) battle at No. 1 to Sawyer before Whiteley outlasted Pence (6-2, 4-6, 6-3) at No. 5 to account for the final 6-3 margin.
