Zoe Johnson, a 2012 graduate of Holy Family Catholic High School, has qualified for the NCAA III Regional Diving Championships. Johnson will be competing at the San Antonio Regional Mar. 1-2. Trinity University will be hosting the regional at the Palo Alto Aquatic Center.
The top two divers from the four NCAA III Regionals will earn automatic berths to the NCAA III National Championships Mar. 20-23 in Shenandoah, Texas. Sixteen divers will receive at-large bids also selected from the four regionals.
Johnson qualified for the San Antonio Regional after posting a Luther school record of 429.60 for one-meter diving (11 dives) at the Liberal Arts Championships Feb. 16, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Johnson, who won the one-meter diving competition, also was crowned the champion of the three-meter diving (398.80) event that was held Feb. 14.
For her efforts, she was named the Liberal Arts Championships Female Diver of the Meet.
The Luther women’s swimming and diving team won the Liberal Arts Championships team title for the seventh consecutive year posting a three-day point total of 1,064 points. Loras College (IA) was a distant second with 449. Twelve teams competed for the 2013 title.
Johnson is the daughter of Steve and Chris Johnson of Minnetrista, Minn.
