The Iowa Conference has released the results for the Iowa Conference Championships and seven members of the Luther swimming and diving team have earned all-conference honors.
The Iowa Conference Championships are combined with the Liberal Arts Championships (LAC), the final qualifying meet of the year. At the conclusion of the LAC, the Iowa Conference determines its league champion and all-conference performers by scoring just the results of the league's competitors. The top-two performers for each individual event and the top-two teams for relay events all-conference honors.
In the final tally, Luther captured the 2017 IIAC championship with 574 points. Coe College was third with 451, followed by Loras College with 330. The league title was the 13th in a row for the Norse.
Individually, Emily Anderson, Sam Kraft and Mimi Finger were crowned IIAC champions. Anderson placed first in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle and 100 butterfly. Kraft won both the 500 freestyle and 1650 freestyle. Finger captured her first IIAC title touching the wall first in the 400 IM. Anderson completed her career as a three-time league champion in both the 50 freestyle (2014, 2016, 2017) and 100 freestyle (2014, 2016, 2017), while Kraft is now a two-time league champion in the 1650 freestyle (2016, 2017).
In relay competition, Anderson, Hughes, Sharp and Kraft won the 400 freestyle relay. Anderson, Kraft, Sofie Wallock and Hughes were crowned league champions in the 800 freestyle. The 400 freestyle relay title and the 800 freestyle relay title marked the 10th and 13th consecutive years Luther has won these events.
The 200 freestyle relay of Kraft, Sharp, Hughes and Anderson earned all-conference honors with a second place finish.
