The Luther College women’s swimming and diving team has earned Scholar All-America honors for the 2017 spring semester from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).
The Team Scholar All-America award includes a team’s complete roster and is presented to college and university teams who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. The award is presented twice a year, the first following the fall semester and the second following the spring semester.
The Luther women had a cumulative grade point average of 3.34.
For the first time in the 95-year history of the CSCAA more than 700 teams have received Scholar All-America recognition. In total, 720 teams, representing 443 institutions achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the Spring 2017 Semester.
Part of the reason for the increase in award-winning teams is the overall growth of the sport. The number of men's and women's institutions sponsoring swimming and diving is at a 10-year high.
