The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) has announced that Clare Slagel has been named the Performer of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Jan. 19.
Slagel, a sophomore, played a part in seven top-4 finishes – including three wins – as the Norse took third at the Grinnell Invitational. She set a Grinnell pool record with a win in the 200 backstroke (2:06.23) and tied her own Grinnell pool mark with a win in the 100 backstroke (:57.61). Slagel also swam on Luther’s winning 200 freestyle (1:56.65) and runner-up 800 freestyle (8:04.17), 400 medley (4:01.42) and 200 medley (1:48.95) relays. She also took fourth in the 100 freestyle (:54.04).
This is the fourth time this year Slagel has been so honored.
